As the spotlight shines on the Dallas Arts District this weekend, the Crow Collection of Asian Art is joining the celebration by offering its own cultural enlightenment.
This weekend the Crow Collection of Asian Art is proud to present The Mystical Arts of Tibet.
Seven Buddhist Monks from the Drepung Loseling Monastery have spent the week constructing a sacred sand-mandala
Madalas are part of the artistic traditions of Tantric Buddhism and ranks as one of the most unique and exquisite art forms. In Tibetan culture this art is called dul-tson-kyil-khor, which literally means “mandala of colored powders”. The monks painstakingly layer millions of  grains of colored, crushed marble to form a traditional prescribed iconography that includes geometric shapes and a multitude of ancient spiritual symbols that is used as a tool for re-consecrating the earth and its inhabitants.

After the mandala is completed, the sand is swept up. Some of the sand will be distributed to the audience and the remainder deposited into a body of flowing water thereby carrying healing energy into the world.

Several events have been scheduled at the Crow Collection in conjunction with the Tibetan Monks visit. They include:
