Dr. Lisa Owen will highlight select sculptures from the Crow Collection in order to explore the dynamic intersections between Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain art produced during India’s ancient and medieval periods.
Visiting Scholar: Lisa Owen, Associate Professor of Art Education and Art History, University of North Texas
Bio: Lisa N. Owen is an Associate Professor of South Asian Art History at the University of North Texas. Her research interests include the production of imagery in ancient India, patterns of patronage, and articulations of sacred space. Dr. Owen’s publications and fieldwork in India have been supported by numerous grants including, an American Institute of Indian Studies Fellowship, a Fulbright-Nehru Research Scholar Award, and a Howard Foundation Fellowship.
