It is also a region that has witnessed the richest crossroads of cultures in the world from South Asia to the Tibetan Plateau. From Hindu and Buddhist cave structures, to sensual tantric Buddhas and wrathful guardians, experience the wonders of cultural, religious, and aesthetic exchanges through the art of the Himalayas.

Visiting Scholar: Ivette Vargas O’Bryan, Associate Professor of Religion in the Department of Religious Studies at Austin College

Bio: Dr. Ivette Vargas-O’Bryan is an Associate Professor of Religion in the Department of Religious Studies at Austin College.  She has two master’s degrees (Sanskrit and Indian Studies, Religious Studies) and a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from Harvard University with a specialization in Indian and Tibetan Buddhist Studies, and a subspecialty in Hinduism.  She has received numerous grants as well as scholarships and teaching awards.
