Glimpse of India Irving Field Trip• $30 per person
9:20 AM – 1:30 PM | The DFW area is so large that one can easily forget the wealth of cultures it hosts. Take a field trip and discover one of our most treasured Indian neighborhoods! Together we will visit DFW Hindu temple, browse the aisles of India Bazaar and finally taste fine Indian cuisine at the restaurant Our Place.
This tour will be led by Registered Dietitian, Ayurvedic Practitioner and founder of Naivedhya, Sapna Punjabi-Gupta. Sapna is a member of the wellness advisory committee for The Wellness Institute and conducts regular wellness lectures and events at the museum. She integrates the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda with western nutritional science to make it practical for the modern living. During this fun tour, she will be sharing many personal stories and traditions from her birth country India and help you discover India right here in Dallas.
$30 per person- tickets include a $15 gift card to India Bazaar, the meal, and the bus tour.
9:20am: Meet at The Crow Collection of Asian Art, 2010 Flora Street
9:30am: Depart for Irving
10-10:30: DFW Hindu Temple
The pantheon of gods in Hinduism is rich and varied. One of the oldest temples in the DFW area, DFW Hindu temple was built 25 years ago and welcomes several branches of Hinduism. The president of the temple will give a tour to our group.
11-11:45am: India Bazaar
India Bazaar is one of the most popular south Asian grocery stores in the DFW area. Opened in 2009, the grocery store presents a wide variety of exported goods, from spices to sweets, lentils to ritual objects. Sapna Punjabi Gupta will provide useful tips on how to integrate traditional Indian spices into your own cuisine. Enjoy a $15 gift card courtesy of India Bazaar to try right there or in one of their 5 branches.
12-12:45pm: Our Place
Hungry yet? Let your taste buds take you on a journey when you visit the restaurant Our Place. Your hostess for the day, Sapna Punjabi-Gupta, will provide details on the ingredients of each dish while also discussing healthy eating habits.
1:30pm: Arrive back at The Crow Collection
