We are all familiar with the pre-flight instruction about oxygen masks: put your own mask on before helping others. In normal daily life, oxygen masks do not drop down automatically, and the cabin pressure of work, family, and everything else starts to feel overwhelming. The art of self-care is far from selfish, it is essential for our performance and the well-being of those we care about.

Bio: Nancy Dorrier is president of Dorrier Underwood, a management consulting firm that emphasizes self-awareness, high performance, and developing leadership at all levels of an organization.

As President, she is the visionary and creative force behind Dorrier Underwood, and personally coaches CEO’s and leaders around the world to invent and implement bold visions. Nancy has been leading transformational programs for more than 20 years and has earned a reputation for making a dramatic impact on people’s lives and having joy and love be present.

Nancy earned a BA in Psychology from Queens University of Charlotte and a Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  She has received public awards for being both a successful business owner and a community and world leader. She received the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award from Queens University in recognition for her work with water development projects and women’s vocational training in East Africa.

Nancy is a poet and essayist and committed to having conversations that make a difference.   She is enthusiastic about collecting art, learning amazing things from her grandchildren, making huge Christmas stockings for them and growing new colorful, fragrant, and delicious plants in her garden.
