Demonstration on Hindusthani Classical Music by Veena Sahasrabuddhe

Join us for a captivating journey into the depths of myriads of notes and ragas of Hindustani Classical Music. In this lecture-demonstration, artist Veena Sahasrabuddhe will show how ragas express different emotions through swars (musical notes). She will then familiarize her listeners with the seven swars, the shuddha, and the vikrit variants, followed by basic concepts of raga.

An Evening with George Takei

Before he traveled the universe as Lt. Sulu on the popular television series Star Trek, George Takei was bound behind barb wire fences that surrounded the Japanese American internment camps during World War II. Now Mr. Takei comes to Dallas to talk about his experiences as a Japanese American growing up in America. This program is being held in conjunction with a special exhibition: The Return of the Yellow Peril: A Survey of the Works by Roger Shimomura currently at the Crow Collection of Asian Art. Sponsored by The Crow Collection, the Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth and American Airlines.
