What type of tour is for you?

Art & Making Tours combine observation and discussion in the galleries with hands-on art making in the Crow Collection’s adjacent Belo Mansion space.  This tour is perfect for groups that want to stimulate their eyes, minds, and hands!

The current Art & Making Tour explores how ceramic artists in different countries translated one another’s ideas based on available, local materials.  The art-making project draws inspiration from the museum’s Clay Between Two Seas exhibition and students will leave with their own painted ceramic tile. 

Tours cover 1-3 works of art.  Maximum group size is 60.  School Groups require 1 adult chaperone for every 15 students. Art & Making Tours for up-to 40 students last 1.5 hours.  Art & Making Tours for 40 to 60 students last 2.25 hours. Tours are taught by professional Gallery Educators.

Art & Discovery Tours are interactive, discussion-based experiences exploring the significance and cultural context of works of art from China, India, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia as represented through our permanent collections and special exhibitions on view.

Art & Movement tours combine observation, discussion, and yoga-inspired movement in the galleries. This tour is perfect for groups that want to experience art through body, mind, and heart!

Tours cover 2-4 works of art and last approximately 45 to 55 minutes. Maximum group size: 60. Tour is suitable for all fitness levels. School Groups require one adult chaperone for every 15 students. Tours are taught by professional Gallery Educators.

Modeled after Harvard Project Zero’s Artful Thinking, this tour allows students to engage deeply with 1-2 works of art over the course of an hour.   Thinking Routines push students towards deep looking, critical thinking, and meaning-making.  This tour serves up-to 120 students.

Tours cover 1-2 works of art and last approximately 45 to 55 minutes.  Maximum group size is 120.  School Groups require 1 adult chaperone for every 15 students. Tours are taught by professional Gallery Educators.

AP ART HISTORY TOURS use inquiry to explore works of art in the galleries through the three big ideas presented in the AP Art History Curriculum Framework.  Students will make connections between works of art on view from Mughal India, China, and Japan and the AP image bank.

Tours cover 3-6 works of art. Maximum group size: 40. Tours last approximately 1.5 hours. School Groups require 1 adult chaperone for every 15 students. Tours are taught by professional Gallery Educators.

One tour, two museums!  The Samurai Times Two tour begins at the Ann & Gabriel Barbier-Mueller Museum: The Samurai Collection and continues on to the Crow Collection of Asian Art.  Join gallery educators at both institutions to explore the culture of the Japanese Samurai.

Tours cover a total of 5-10 works of art and last approximately 2 hours. Maximum group size: 20. School Groups require one adult chaperone for every fifteen students.  Tours are taught by professional Crow Collection Gallery Educators and Barbier-Mueller Museum staff. Capacity for this tour is up-to 60 students.

The Crow Collection welcomes groups of up to 30 for self-guided tours. By booking a self-guided tour, you are reserving space in the galleries for your group. These tours must be booked and confirmed by the Education Department in advance.
