The Festival of Joy is a celebration of India’s spirituality and rich culture. Perfect for families and art enthusiasts alike, Festival of Joy will take place in the Arts District and Klyde Warren Park.
This event starts with the parade procession, in downtown Dallas, that has been celebrated for thousands of years in Puri known as Ratha Yatra, where it attracts millions annually. Every summer the deity of Krishna is taken out of the temple amidst great fanfare, and is placed on a chariot. Today this same festival is celebrated in major cities all over the world including New York, Los Angeles, Dublin & London.
The park features a main stage with kirtan (musical mantra meditation) performances, classical Indian dance (bharat-natyam) and questions and answers with Monks, known as Swamis, about the enlivening culture of India.
This is a family-friendly event with crafts, cultural displays, Indian dress-up booths, face painting/henna tattoos and more.
A free multicourse vegetarian feast, along with other cultural and vegetarian preparations will available to enjoy with your family and friends.
Take your family and friends to this free public event and experience the joy of India.
