Mind/ Body/ Art: An Experiential Workshopat Crow Collection of Asian Art
Can making art reveal things about yourself that you didn’t already know? Can art be healing? Explore these questions and others as you participate in this workshop bridging aspects of mindfulness meditation and art making. In this experiential workshop, you will participate in a short guided meditation designed to help become more aware of your mind and body. Next, you will be invited to engage in an art making activity that aims to bring the meditation into a whole new light. No prior experience in art or meditation is necessary. Art materials will be provided.
Bio: Melissa Marks Garner is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Art Therapist and Certified Yoga Teacher. She holds a master’s degree in Art Therapy and Creativity Development from Pratt Institute. Melissa has more than 15 years’ experience in the mental health field and has provided wellness workshops and meditation trainings for the past 10 years. Her core belief is that participants are empowered to heal themselves and create positive change in their lives. She works with the Arts in Medicine program at Baylor Scott & White hospital in Dallas, TX.
