ARTIST: Xiaoze Xie

Chinese-American painter and current Stanford professor Xiaoze Xie moved to the United States with his wife, Daxue Xu, in 1991, where he studied art at the University of North Texas. He became inspired by the commonplace, everyday, sometimes abandoned scene – such as junkyards and old library books – which he painted with a realist bent and accentuated wear-and-tear, lending a disheveled and well-worn impression to his works.

He has produced multiple series and is well represented at museums across the country, including at the Crow Museum (Study (for Polit Bureau Politician)) and at the Dallas Museum of Art.
